Clervie Stinson Jr.

August 19, 1937 – August 24, 2024

Clervie Stinson Jr. beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He went to be with our Lord at age 87 on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in Sugarland, Texas.

He was born on August 19, 1937 in Shreveport, Louisiana (Caddo Parish) to Clervie Stinson Sr. and Gertrude Willis Stinson. The Stinson family held/hold strong Christian beliefs and through generations were, and still are active church members. 

Clervie Jr. was baptized very early in life. He was ordained as a Deacon at Lake Bethlehem Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Joseph E. Martin and later by Rev. Dennis R. Everett. Clervie Jr. was a faithful servant. 

In 1959, Clervie Jr. married his high school sweetheart, Evon Watley Stinson and shared 47 years in marriage until her untimely death in 2006. To this union three children were born. 

Clervie Jr. was a hard worker with unwavering dedication to his family. He retired from Universal Oil Products (UOP) in Shreveport after 30+ years. Retirement was not his forte’. In 2006 he was employed by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office and worked there until the age of 82.  Oh, how he loved that job! 

Clervie Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Evon Stinson, his siblings Rev. J.D. Stinson, Clarice Stinson Malloy, Rev. Roger Stinson, Orzada Stinson Johnson and his son-in-law Kenneth “Kenny” Washington Sr. (Stephanie). 

He leaves a legacy of memories to be cherished by his three children: Lorene Stinson Grimes (Dave) of Sugarland, TX; Clervie Stinson III (Debra) of New Orleans, LA; Stephanie Washington of Orange Park, FL. Six grandchildren: David Grimes III (Haley) of Sugarland, TX; Klervae’ Stinson of New Orleans, LA; Kenneth “KJ” Washington (Sarah) of Orlando, FL; Clervie Stinson IV of New Orleans, LA; Sterling Grimes (Kara) of Norwalk, CT; and Keilin Washington of Orange Park, FL. Six great-grandchildren: Nove Stinson, Kenneth “KD” Washington III, Savannah Grimes, Sophia Grimes, Kristian Washington and Sariah Washington. Three brothers: Larry Hall (Sharon) of Texas, Calvin Hall (Robin) of Texas, Ricky Hall (Monica) of Louisiana. Five sisters: Louise Pouncy of California, Clara Farley (Mose) of Louisiana, Wanda Williams (Eugene) of California, Eunice Brown of South Carolina, and Patsy Warren of Louisiana. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
