Lucindia Tillman

September 16, 1936 – January 22, 2018

On September 16, 1936, Lucindia Butler was born to the
late Willie and Mable Butler in Arp, Texas. She was one of
fourteen siblings. She graduated from Arp Industrial High
School, where she was a member of the basketball team.
Lucindia Butler acknowledged Christ at an early age where
she became a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Troup,
Texas, under the leadership of Reverend J.J. Johnson.
On June 10, 1957, she united in Holy Matrimony with Joe
Hollis Tillman in Arp, Texas. Together they began their life
in Houston, Texas. To this union, three children were born.
Later she became a faithful member of the Lilly Grove
Missionary Baptist Church. She held a faithful post as an
Usher and served in position of Vice President and President.
She worked for Harris County Appraisal District, where she
retired after 25 years. She was an avid fan and participant
of basketball. She loved playing cards, dominoes, traveling,
cooking and shopping. But what brought her the most joy,
was bringing her family together for gatherings, especially
holidays and Sunday dinners.
On Monday evening, January 22, 2018, at 8:00 p.m., God
stepped out into His Garden of Life and justly plucked a
beautiful flower to include in his Bouquet of Righteousness.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Madeline
Demetrice Tillman and two sons, Michael Dwayne
(Yolanda) and Darron Keith Tillman all of Houston, Texas;
five grandchildren, Joseph Deshaun (Alicia), Derrick
Jemail, Jacqueline Denisha, Delvin Jamarque (Krista)
and Arimentha Lucindia all of Houston, Texas; 6 greatgrandchildren;sisters, Betty Gardener, Valerie Wallace,
Mildred Miner; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
She will be welcomed to her heavenly home by her beloved
