Mrs.Harrison was a phenomenal music teacher during my early years at Turner Elementary . She was so committed and dedicated to all of her students . She facilitated our “glee club” performances at Jones Hall and the Planetarium back in the 1960’s. I’ll never forget her training us to learn and appreciate classical music ( not only the composition but the composer) She implemented a unique method where we would sing the titles and composers with the melody of the composition . She would conduct workshops for new incoming music teachers as mentor . My mother taught music in HISD and was an attendee .We were so fortunate to have an instructor who cared for us unconditionally. I was saddened to hear of her passing- but I am certain she’s singing with the angels .
